Wednesday, August 17: Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18. The Roundhouse has been activated as a cooling space. The cooling space (the Games Room) will be available during our regular weekday hours, 9am-10pm.

Please come into the centre if you need to escape the heat, take a breather, or get a drink of water. Pets are welcome.

About the Roundhouse as cooling centre

The Roundhouse is an official cooling centre for Vancouver. The Vancouver Park Board takes its cue from Environment Canada for when cooling centres open. When this happens, the Roundhouse will offer a dedicated space in the facility, the Games Room, for people and pets who need respite from excessive heat. When activated, the cooling space will be available during our regular weekday hours, 9am-10pm, and on weekends, 9am-10pm. It’s very important to stay hydrated during hot weather – there are two bottle-filling water fountains in our building that you can use.

Read more about how to stay safe and healthy during a heat event. Remember to check in on the elderly and those who might need extra attention.
