Vancouver Park Board’s Fieldhouse Activation Program transformed former caretakers’ suites into active spaces for creative practice. Since 2018, a cultural residency has supported community members from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations to work in a community-engaged space within their unceded territory now commonly called Second Beach in Stanley Park. Here, the artists have a visible presence on their lands and practice their culture on their own terms.
