We invite all community members to come out to Spoken Truth! An interactive digital poetry showcase, celebrating our Poet in Residence during Poetry Month.
Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre welcomes Poet in Residence, Angelic Goldsky aka Angelic Proof with online- live stream show “Spoken Truth with Angelic”. The show will feature a 40 minute set by Angelic Proof along with an opening set by Cassandra Myers and a performance by circus artist Angela McIlroy-Wagar.
Angelic Proof[t(he)y] is a Russian-Jewish trans-gender queer poetry-excavator. They have performed across Turtle Island and Europe, unearthing what was once buried in silence. They have been published in Frontier Poetry, SAD Mag among other journals. They are proud to currently be the Poet-in-Residence at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre. They hate taxidermies and love timelessness.
Cassandra Myers (they/she) is a queer, trans, crip, mad, South Asian-Italian poet, performer, educator, and social worker from Toronto, Ontario. A Masters of Social Work Candidate at York University, Cassandra is also a crisis intervention counsellor and youth worker, specializing in care for sexual violence survivors and the BIPOC LGBTQ2SIA+ community. Cassandra has performed poetry across the United States and Canada. A Pink Door Fellow, her work can be found in Overheard, The Shortline Review, UncommonYOU, and elsewhere.
Angela McIlroy-Wagar is a Canadian contemporary circus artist specializing in aerial hoop, aerial straps, and contortion. Fusing their long limbs and elegant lines with skewed angles and surreal postures, Angela’s creations abstract on femininity, high camp, and liminality while exploring the threshold between beauty and the grotesque. She is a graduate from the École Nationale de Cirque in Montréal, and has worked internationally with circus companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Les 7 Doigts de la Main, Strut n’ Fret Production House, and Cirque Éloize.
