Good Idea Lab

Come visit the ‘Good Idea Lab’ at the Roundhouse Community Centre this summer! Brought to you by the Association of Very Good Ideas and Tin Can Studio, the ‘Good Idea Lab’ will feature a series of investigative laboratories and celebrations that invite you to explore, discuss and re-imagine some Very Good Ideas. These experimental labs and workshops will invite you to make art, join in performance and celebrate Good Ideas in all their glory! Find updated information on the GOOD IDEA LAB BLOG.

THE ASSOCIATION OF VERY GOOD IDEAS is an artist project dedicated to the creative investigation of Very Good Ideas. TIN CAN STUDIO is a mobile project space housed in a vintage 18 ft streamline trailer. Fully portable, the space is designed to accommodate a variety of creative activities.

Artists in Residence

CAROLINE BALLHORN

Caroline Ballhorn is a Vancouver-based artist, designer, and creative facilitator with a background in sculpture, print-making, drawing, textile-based and social/community-based/participatory creative work. Her interests include collaborative making, craft, D.I.Y., and socially engaged art practices, which she explores individually as well as collaboratively through her work as part of Tin Can Studio and artist collective The Association of Very Good Ideas. Caroline has also worked as an artist-facilitator in mental health and addictions, supporting clients with concurrent and complex disorders. This work has helped to inform her approach to sharing creativity in a community context that encourages multiple access points and positive outcomes for all. She has exhibited work both in Canada and internationally. She received her BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2010.

JENNY LEE CRAIG

Jenny Lee Craig is an artist and a creative facilitator. Her projects are diverse and interdisciplinary, with a commitment to community engagement and accessibility. The extensive list of her life’s highlights so far include competing in FINA World Championships with her Synchronized Swimming team, presenting a play about a tender jewel that goes for a journey in a giant hat in a castle made of snow in Yellowknife, NWT, and being a back-up dancer for the francophone rap sensation Donzelle. In addition to her collective work with Tin Can Studio and The Association of Very Good Ideas, she works collaboratively with Dance Troupe Practice (who are currently in residence with the Vancouver Parks Board Fieldhouse Studio Program) and Blessing Stick (with Heidi Nagtegaal). Her projects and work have been presented across Canada and Japan.
