A new residency begins this season inviting youth to work with the Roundhouse’s powerhouse creative team of dancers Sophia Sosa, Marco Esccer and textile artist Karen Thảo La. The Art in Motion is designed to challenge preconceived notions of what creativity is and introduces youth to the intermingling of several creative practices including hip hop dance, group choreography and moving sculpture. The project continues through 2026 allowing youth to build a palette of expressive tools to build a collective work to be presented at the Roundhouse for BC Youth Week in May 2026.

Karen Thảo La is a Vietnamese-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and cultural worker who lives,
plays, and works between two cultures.
